Abstract
Sacroiliac (SI) joint pain accounts for approximately one fifth of chronic low back pain cases. SI joints are innervated by several nerves, including the S1-3 lateral branches, and ablation of these nerves has been used to treat for SI joint pain. Cooled radiofrequency ablation (C-RFA) can be used to create a larger lesion than can be created by conventional heat radiofrequency ablation. Therefore, C-RFA should be considered in the treatment of patients with SI joint syndrome. We herein report the successful treatment of a patient with SI joint syndrome who underwent C-RFA of the S1-3 lateral branches.
